Elko is home to World Famous Ruby Mountain , which is located in the southeast of the city, and can be seen for miles in all directions from northern Nevada. The Ruby Dome reaches a maximum altitude of over 11,000 feet and is great for hikers and mountaineers.

In the summer months, you can find the hidden lakes of the Ruby mountain range. These lakes can be a perfect refuge point after a scenic hike in the mountains.

For the fisherman, Elko County is home to the Humboldt River, which runs through much of northern Nevada from east to west. Along the river you will find various types of trout and bass.

And do not forget the South Fork State Recreation Area, which has hills covered with wildlife from northeastern Nevada. Observations of deer, badgers, beavers and foxes are a common sight. With the Ruby Mountains as a backdrop, visitors easily and eagerly enjoy hunting, boating, swimming and fishing. The expansive reservoir maintains an abundant trout waterfall.
